Parenting Children of Color

Many of us parent children of color. We share information and resources regarding:

What to do, and what alternatives are there when our children are subjected to racism in school, stores, etc.

Survival skills our children must know for living in a racist society--like how to act if stopped by the police.

When Black, Latino and Asian children are adopted by white parents, additional issues arise. We discuss and find ways for our children to be part of their birth cultures and communities; finding adult role models from their birth cultures; developing ethnic pride, etc.

We also:

Help prepare prospective adoptive parents to meet the needs of transracially and transculturally adopted children.

Contribute to making these placements viable options for older children.
